Starting Your First Design

Now that you have your Project set up, it is time to build the blueprint for your visuals: the Design.

The Design is the "master design" that Abyssale uses to generate all your future variations.

Choose Your Starting Point

Inside your project folder, click the Create New design button. You will be presented with several powerful ways to begin, depending on your workflow:

Create a design from Abyssale

  • Start from Scratch: You get a blank canvas. This is best if you want full control over every layer and settings right from the start.

  • Public Templates: Browse our library of professional, pre-made designs. We highly recommend this for beginners to see how dynamic layers are structured.

  • Workspace Templates: Re-use a design created by your own team. Perfect for maintaining brand consistency across different projects.

  • AI Design Generation (Alpha): Available for select users. Describe what you want in a text prompt, and our AI will generate a fully editable design for you instantly.

Importing a design from External Tools

If you prefer designing in other software first, you can bring those assets directly into Abyssale:

  • From Figma: Use our dedicated Figma Plugin to push your designs directly to Abyssale.

  • From Photoshop: Use our dedicated Photoshop plugin to Import your .PSD files. Abyssale will convert your layers into editable web elements automatically.

Important limitations for Imports:

  • Static Only: Designs imported from external tools (Figma/Photoshop) are automatically created as Static Images. You cannot import them as Animated or Print design.

  • One Format at a time: You can only import one size (format) at once. If you need multiple sizes, import your main size first, then use Abyssale's Auto-resize feature inside the editor to create the others.

Choose Your Design Type

f you choose to build inside Abyssale (From Scratch), you need to decide what kind of content you are building. We support four main creative types:

  • Static Image: Best for social media posts, display banners, and thumbnails.
Exports as: JPG, PNG, WebP, Avif, or PDF (RGB).

  • Animated: Best for video ads, Instagram stories, or motion content.
Exports as: MP4, GIF, or HTML5.

  • Print (Multi-formats): Use this if you need to create a single-page document in various sizes (e.g., a flyer that needs to be A4, A5, and US Letter).
Exports as: PDF (CMYK for professional printing).

  • Print (Multi-pages): Use this if you are building a document with multiple pages (e.g., a brochure, a multi-page invoice, or a report).
    Exports as: Multi-page PDF (CMYK).

Important: Make sure to choose the correct type from the start, as you cannot switch a design from "Static" to "Print" later on. (but you can switch in both way from "Static" to "Animated").

Select Brand Preset

  • What is it? If you have already set up your Brand preset in the Abyssale settings, you can select it here.

  • Why use it? It automatically loads your brand’s color palette, logo and fonts into the editor. This saves you time so you don't have to upload your logo or fonts manually for every new design.

Tip: If you haven't set up a Brand Preset yet, you can leave this empty and add your colors manually inside the editor.

Format Parameters

This determines the size of your canvas. You can choose between two modes:

  1. Predefined (Recommended for Social Media) Abyssale provides a list of industry-standard sizes.

    • Select Predefined.

    • Click the dropdown list to choose formats like Instagram Story, LinkedIn Post, Facebook Cover, etc.

  2. Custom (Specific Dimensions) Use this if you need a specific size that isn't standard (e.g., a specific website banner).

    • Select Custom.

    • Enter your exact Width and Height in pixels (or mm/cm for Print).

Good to know: You only need to set up one format at this step (your primary format). Don't worry if you need multiple sizes; you will be able to add up to 20 formats inside the editor later.

Format Name

Give your format a clear name (e.g., "Instagram Square" or "Header 1000x200").

  • Why? Since Abyssale allows you to have multiple sizes in one template, naming them clearly helps you identify them later when using Auto-resize.

Enter the Design Builder

Once you have selected your source and settings, click Create. You will land in the Abyssale Editor.

  • Left Panel: Your Layers (Text, Images, Shapes).

  • Center: Your Canvas (The design area).

  • Right Panel: Settings (Colors, Fonts, Positions).

  • Bottom Panel (Animated design) : Timeline of your animation

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the interface, this is where you design your layout. But you aren't limited to just one size!

You can add up to 20 formats (like Story 1080x1920 or Banner 1200x628) to this single design. Instead of redesigning them manually, you can use our AI Auto-resize feature. It intelligently analyzes your primary design and automatically rearranges elements to fit the new dimensions in seconds.

Save and Generate

Once your design looks great and your formats are set:

  1. Click the Save button in the top right corner.

  2. You will be redirected to the Template Overview.

  3. Select a generation method on the left menu to start creating visuals.

You don't need to manually export files one by one. Use the Quick Generation (Form) to test your design immediately, or upload a spreadsheet to generate thousands of variations at once.
