Connect Abyssale to your AI assistant with the Abyssale MCP

Use Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Lovable to browse, create and generate your Abyssale designs directly from a conversation.

The Abyssale MCP connects your Abyssale workspace to the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Lovable. Once connected, you can simply ask your assistant to find a design, create a new one, or generate banners, videos and PDFs, without opening Abyssale or writing a single line of code.

What is MCP? The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants use external tools. The Abyssale MCP gives your assistant a set of Abyssale tools it can call on your behalf, with the permissions you approve.

What you can do with it

  • Browse your workspace: list and search your designs and projects, and check your remaining credits.

  • Generate visuals: create images, videos, HTML5 banners and multi-page PDFs from your existing designs, with your own texts and images.

  • Create designs: build a brand-new, fully editable design from a description, an HTML banner or a Figma file.

  • Organize: create projects, and rename, move or delete designs.

  • Find fonts: search the font catalog by name, style or weight.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • "Show me all the designs in my Summer campaign project."

  • "Generate the Black Friday banner in every format with the headline '-30% on everything'."

  • "Create a 1080 × 1080 Instagram post for our new product launch, using our brand colors."

  • "How many credits do I have left?"

Before you start

  • Your role: you need the Owner, Admin, Manager, Designer or Operator role on the workspace. Viewer and Light Operator accounts can't use the Abyssale MCP.

  • No API key needed: you sign in with your Abyssale account and approve what the assistant is allowed to do. Your API keys are not used and are not affected.

  • Your default workspace: the assistant only works in your default workspace, and can only do what your own role allows.

  • Credits: generating visuals through your assistant uses your credits, exactly like generating them in Abyssale.

Connect your AI assistant

All assistants connect to the same server address:

The Abyssale MCP currently supports Claude.ai, ChatGPT / Codex, Lovable, Cursor and Claude Code. Pick your assistant below. Other assistants will be added over time.

Good to know: each assistant's menus change regularly. If a label doesn't match exactly what you see, look for the closest equivalent (for example Connectors, Apps or Plugins).

Claude.ai

  1. In Claude.ai, go to Customize → Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector.

  2. Set Name to Abyssale and Remote MCP server URL to https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp, then click Continue.

  3. Keep the detected defaults: Authentication on Sign in now and OAuth client on Use Claude's published identity. There is no client ID to enter.

  4. Click Add, then sign in to Abyssale and approve the permissions.

Use it in a chat: click + at the bottom left of the message box, open Connectors and make sure Abyssale is turned on.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner first adds the connector for the whole organization in Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Each member then goes to Customize → Connectors, finds Abyssale and clicks Connect to sign in with their own Abyssale account.

Importing images from your computer: if you want Claude.ai to upload image files from your computer when it creates a design, a Claude.ai workspace admin first needs to add https://production-templates-imports.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com to the domain allowlist in claude.ai/admin-settings/capabilities (under Additional allowed domains). This isn't needed for images that are already online.

ChatGPT / Codex

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Go back to Settings → Apps and click Create.

  3. Set Name to Abyssale and the MCP server URL to https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp. Keep Authentication on OAuth, don't change the advanced OAuth settings, and check I understand and want to continue.

  4. Click Create, then sign in to Abyssale and approve the permissions.

Use it in a chat: select Abyssale from the tools menu of the message box, or mention it in your prompt. The connector is automatically available in the Codex app too.

Plan requirements: OpenAI currently offers full MCP apps, including actions such as generating visuals, on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web only. On a workspace plan, an admin may need to enable developer mode first in Workspace settings → Permissions & Roles.

Lovable

  1. In Lovable, open Connectors, click + in the top right and choose MCP server.

  2. Set Server name to Abyssale and Server URL to https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp. Keep Authentication on OAuth (default).

  3. Click Add & authorize, then sign in to Abyssale and approve the permissions.

Use it in a chat: name the connector in your prompt, for example "Using Abyssale, list my latest designs." The connection is personal: each workspace member connects with their own Abyssale account.

Cursor

  1. In Cursor, go to Settings → MCPs and click New MCP Server. This opens the ~/.cursor/mcp.json file.

  2. Add the abyssale entry shown below, then save the file.

  3. Sign in to Abyssale in the browser window that opens and approve the permissions.

  4. Back in Settings → MCPs, check that abyssale shows as Connected.

Entry to add in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
"mcpServers": {
"abyssale": {
"url": "https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp",
"auth": {
"CLIENT_ID": "tpc_rusyFsfRzoeCprRzoumUwS"
}
}
}
}

The client ID above is specific to Cursor. Cursor asks for your approval before it runs an Abyssale action.

Claude Code

  1. In your terminal, run the command shown below. The --client-id and --callback-port options are required, exactly as shown.

  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, select abyssale_prod and choose Authenticate. Sign in to Abyssale in your browser and approve the permissions.

  3. Run claude mcp list to check that abyssale_prod shows ✔ Connected.

Command to run:

claude mcp add --transport http --client-id tpc_iJ7LWqVdzR7c7jf21gMqDQ --callback-port 3418 -s user abyssale_prod https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp

The -s user option makes Abyssale available in all your projects.

Choose what your assistant can do

When you connect, Abyssale asks you to approve a list of permissions. You stay in control: approve only what you need, and you can give different permissions to different assistants.

Permission

What it allows

Read designs, projects, fonts and credits

Browse and search your workspace. Nothing is changed.

Generate

Generate images, videos, HTML5 and PDFs. Uses credits.

Import designs

Create new designs in your workspace.

Create projects

Create new projects.

Edit designs

Rename designs and move them between projects.

Delete designs

Delete designs permanently. No undo.

Tip: if you don't want your assistant to ever delete designs, simply leave the delete permission unchecked when you connect. It can still rename and move designs.

Good to know

  • Every generation uses credits, even if the result isn't what you expected. Ask your assistant to check your remaining credits before a large batch. See Understanding Abyssale Credits.

  • Deleting a design is permanent. Visuals that were already generated are kept.

  • Moving a design to another project resets its approval status, so it needs to be reviewed again.

  • Regenerating an existing visual replaces it and keeps the same share link. The previous version isn't kept.

  • Generated files are available for 7 days through your assistant. Download what you need before then.

  • Layer names matter: if your assistant uses a layer name that doesn't exist in your design, it's ignored without an error. Ask it to check the design's layers first if a change doesn't appear.

Troubleshooting

  • "No Abyssale account is linked to this identity": you signed in with an account that doesn't exist in Abyssale. Disconnect and reconnect using the email of your Abyssale account.

  • "role_access_denied": your role on the workspace doesn't allow this action (for example, an Operator can't delete designs). Ask a workspace Admin to change your role.

  • The assistant asks for an extra permission: the action needs a permission you didn't approve. Accept it, or reconnect the assistant and approve it.

  • I can't connect at all: check that your role is not Viewer or Light Operator, and that the server address is exactly https://mcp.abyssale.com/mcp.

  • Cursor or Claude Code can't complete the sign-in: check that you used the client ID made for that tool (each one is different), and for Claude Code that both --client-id and --callback-port are in the command.

  • A generated file is no longer available: results are kept for 7 days. Generate it again if needed.
