Using the Side Border Decoration on Text Layers

Learn how to enable and customize the Side Border decoration to add stylish accents to your text layers in Abyssale.

Updated this week

The Side Border decoration is a powerful way to add a professional visual touch to your headings or paragraphs. Whether you want a simple accent line or a bold background element, the Side Border tool gives you full creative control.

How to enable the Side Border

To add a side border to your text:

  1. Select the Text Layer you wish to edit in the builder.

  2. In the right-hand properties panel, scroll down to the Side Border section.

  3. Toggle the switch to On.

Customization Options

Once enabled, you can fine-tune the appearance using the following settings:

  • Decoration (Position): Choose which side of the text the border appears on (Left, Right, Top, or Bottom).

  • Color: Select a solid color or enter a specific Hex code to match your branding.

  • Thickness: Adjust the width of the border line.

  • Padding: Control the distance between the text and the border.

  • Radius: Choose between Rounded edges for a softer look or Straight edges for a sharp finish.

  • Spread: Adjust the length of the border relative to the text height or width.

  • Offset: Move the border further away or closer to the text alignment.

API Implementation

If you are generating banners via the API, you can control the Side Border by modifying the side_border parameters within your JSON payload.

Available Parameters:

  • side_border: (string) e.g., "left"

  • side_border_thickness: (number)

  • side_border_padding: (number)

  • side_border_color: (string) Hex code

  • side_border_rounded: (boolean) true/false

  • side_border_spread: (number)

Tip: Use a negative Offset value if you want the border to overlap or sit behind your text for a highlighted effect!
