Importing Images from a URL

Learn how to add images and logos to your asset library using direct public links instead of local files

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When working in Abyssale, you can import images directly from an external source using a URL. This saves you the time of downloading files to your computer and re-uploading them.

This feature is available whenever you access the Media Importer.

Where to find the URL Importer

You can access the URL import feature in three main areas of your workflow:

  1. In the Design Editor: Click on any Image Layer. In the property panel on the right, click the Select image button.

  2. Spreadsheet Generation: When selecting source images for selected cell.

  3. Quick Generation: When filling out the form fields to generate a single banner.

How to import via URL

Once the Media Importer modal is open:

  1. Click on the URL tab in the sidebar.

  2. Paste your direct image link into the text field on the right.

  3. Click Import.

The image will immediately replace your selected layer or populate the generation field.

Link Requirements

To ensure a successful import, your link must meet the following criteria:

  • Protocol: The link must use HTTPS.

  • File Types: We support JPEG, PNG, and WEBP.

  • File Size: The maximum allowed file size is 20MB.

Important Notice: Public Access Required

To import your image, the URL must be publicly accessible.

If you are using a link from a cloud storage service (like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box), simply copying the browser link often will not work because those links require a login to view.

You must ensure the file permissions are set to "Anyone with the link" or "Public" so that our system can access and download the image data.
