When layers overlap in a design, the one on top hides the ones below it. The arrange buttons let you decide which layer sits in front of which, without leaving the right panel of the Design Editor.
Select a layer or a group, then use the four buttons to move it up or down in the stack.
How the stacking order works
The stacking order follows the layer list on the left: the layer at the top of the list is in front, the layer at the bottom is at the back. Moving a layer in the stack moves it in the list at the same time. You can also drag a layer up or down in the layer list to change its position, instead of using the buttons.
Change the order of a layer
Select the layer on the canvas or in the layer list.
In the right panel, open Layer settings and find the Arrange row, below Name and Opacity.
Click one of the four buttons.
Button | What it does |
Bring forward | Moves the layer one step up in the stack. |
Bring to front | Moves the layer to the top of the stack, in front of all the others. |
Send backward | Moves the layer one step down in the stack. |
Send to back | Moves the layer to the bottom of the stack, behind all the others. |
For example, with three layers listed as c, b, a (c in front) and b selected, Bring forward gives b, c, a. Then Send to back gives c, a, b.
Note: When a layer is already at the back, Send backward and Send to back are greyed out. The same applies to the front buttons for a layer at the top.
Drag layers in the layer list
You can also reorder layers without the buttons: in the layer list on the left, drag a layer up or down and drop it where you want it. A layer placed higher in the list moves to the front, a layer placed lower moves to the back.
Tip: use drag and drop when you want to move a layer several steps at once, and the arrange buttons for quick one-step changes.
Change the order of a group
Groups have the same Arrange row. Select the group, open Group settings in the right panel and use the same four buttons. The whole group moves in the stack, with all its layers.
If you select a layer inside a group, the buttons only reorder it within that group. The group itself and the layers outside it stay where they are.
